Born and raised in Melbourne, Simon brings over 25 years of experience in the funeral industry. He spent 22 of those years with a family-owned funeral home in Melbourne before he and his wife sought a tree change, purchasing a few acres on the outskirts of Ballarat just prior to Covid. Since moving to the country, Simon has truly flourished. He has embraced rural life and the strong sense of community that comes with it.

Simon’s extensive experience and deep understanding of the diverse cultural needs of families during challenging times ensure he provides support that is both respectful and meaningful. His friendly, caring nature and combined with his breadth of knowledge makes him an invaluable member of the FW Barnes team. His guidance is appreciated not only by his colleagues, but also by the many client families he serves with compassion and professionalism.

Outside of work, Simon enjoys metal and woodwork, discovering weird and wonderful antiques, reading and watching movies. He also loves attending local festivals and trade fairs and spending time socially with friends and family across both metropolitan and rural Victoria. Simon is a proud father to an adult son and a doting grandfather to two grandchildren.
